PERMIT AND APPROVAL REQUIREMENTS

FENCE PLACEMENT RULES

Maximum Height: A fence may not exceed 8 feet in height.

Front Yards: In any front yard, including both street-facing yards on a corner lot, chain link or similar woven wire fence is not permitted.

Allowed Front-Yard Fence Types: Within a front yard, decorative or ornamental rail, split rail, picket, opaque, basket weave, or similar wood fencing may be used, provided the fence does not exceed 4 feet in height. Decorative wrought iron or black aluminum fencing is also permitted up to 4 feet in height.

Split Rail Wire Backing: Any wire backing on a split rail fence in the front yard must have a black vinyl coating.

Intersection Visibility: In all zoning districts, no fence, wall, structure, shrubbery, or other obstruction to vision between 3 feet and 15 feet in height, except utility poles, light or street sign standards, or tree trunks, may be located within 20 feet of the intersection of right-of-way lines of streets, highways, and railroads.
